活動內容 Event Details
One Billion Rising(十億人起義)是一項全球運動,於2012年發起,
One Billion Rising is a global campaign founded in 2012 aimed to stop rape and gender based violence against women. It coincides with the annual International Women’s Month celebrated globally. In Taiwan, One Billion Rising is spearheaded by migrant workers who aim to highlight labor exploitation and abuse against migrant women in the country and across the world. During the event, there will be a flash mob dance headed by Filipino and Indonesian migrant workers, as well as speeches of solidarity from different sectors highlighting the demand for a fair recruitment system, the recognition of labor and maternity rights, and the fight against global systems of oppression.
活動的重要性 Importance of the Event
今年的活動主題為:「為了建立一個沒有戰爭,
For this year, the organizers have chosen the theme “Unite for a World Free From War, Exploitation, and Displacement!”—highlighting the exploitative working conditions, unsafe environments, long hours, and lack of maternity rights that migrant workers face, particularly those working in domestic care and manufacturing jobs. We also reiterate the importance of a fair recruitment system, which is vital in ending the perpetuation of a broker system and in consequence, debt bondage among migrant workers. This year’s One Billion Rising in Taipei also pays special attention to the ongoing crisis in Palestine, where despite a ceasefire agreement being reached, Israel has delayed the return of displaced persons, targeted civilians with gunfire and shelling across the Gaza Strip, and refused the entry of relief goods. One Billion Rising Taiwan believes that the same global systems of oppression that abuse migrant workers and occupy Palestine are one and the same. Thus, it is vital that bridges of solidarity are built, and that people of all backgrounds amplify the call for justice, freedom, and dignity across borders.
